MOOS @ South Euclid
The first MOOS program in South Euclid took place in May 2021. The site was a triangular median of ‘left-over space’ at the intersection of Princeton Blvd and Bridgeview Dr, in a quiet section of the neighborhood. The City of South Euclid’s Community Development department and the local MyCom program collaborated with MOOS and six local students on this project to create a youth-designed parklet.
Students developed plans for the whole site that include play features, seating, and landscaping elements, but decided to focus on a welcome sign and bench for the week’s workshops. The sign features a chalkboard and message board area for neighbors to use to share notes and announcements, and the bench is a half-circle that rings the tree on site. This MOOS crew was small but mighty, battling some challenges with weather and a short time-frame to complete a couple great pieces for their community.
Making Our Own Space @ South Euclid is made possible through the generous support of the City of South Euclid.
