MOOS @ La Villa Hispana
In August 2017, the MOOS program began on the West Side of Cleveland in an area of the Clark-Fulton neighborhood known as La Villa Hispana. Clark-Fulton is 48 percent Hispanic, with a majority being Puerto Rican in heritage; La Villa Hispana is the emerging cultural, social, and economic center of the Latinx community in Cleveland and Northeast Ohio.
The La Placita pop-up events students built pieces for during the first three years of workshops have paused as the space near the corner of W. 25th and Clark begins its transformation into a permanent community hub, El Mercado @ CentroVilla 25. MOOS builds are now expanding into other areas of the MetroWest service area, continuing to facilitate creative leadership roles for youth in community-driven initiatives to improve neighborhood public spaces.
Making Our Own Space @ La Villa Hispana is made possible through the generous support of the Fowler Family Foundation.
